NBSTRA Awarded Right to Rent Collaborative Grant to Strengthen Local STR Advocacy

The Newport Beach Short-Term Rental Alliance is honored to share that NBSTRA has been awarded a Growth Grant from the Right to Rent Collaborative (R2RC), a national organization dedicated to strengthening short-term rental advocacy and supporting local and state STR associations across the country.

In its recent announcement, R2RC awarded five new grants to STR associations working to build stronger, more sustainable advocacy organizations. NBSTRA received a $5,000 Growth Grant “to support local leadership and strengthen the regional Southern California short-term rental network.” You can read the full announcement from the Right to Rent Collaborative.

This recognition matters because NBSTRA is already being recognized as one of the leading local short-term rental alliances in Southern California. In just over a year, NBSTRA has built a strong and growing voice for responsible short-term rental owners and managers in Newport Beach. We have engaged City officials, kept members informed, advocated for fair and workable rules, and helped ensure that responsible permit holders are part of the conversation.

That work is more important than ever. Across California and around the country, local governments and regulators continue to aggressively target short-term rentals — often without distinguishing clearly enough between responsible owners and managers who follow the rules and bad actors who do not. When that happens, responsible STR participants need strong local representation, clear communication, and an organized voice at City Hall.

That is why local alliances like NBSTRA matter. A strong local association helps educate policymakers, defend responsible property owners and managers, promote compliance, and push back when proposed rules go too far. It also helps ensure that local decisions are informed by the people who actually understand how short-term rentals operate in the real world.

We are grateful to R2RC for this recognition and support. We are also grateful to the NBSTRA members whose involvement has made this progress possible. The stronger our membership, the stronger our voice — and the better positioned we are to protect responsible short-term rentals in Newport Beach.

NBSTRA will continue working to ensure that responsible short-term rental owners and managers have a strong, credible, and effective voice in Newport Beach and throughout the broader Southern California STR community.
